mY BiOEtHiCs cLAsS~ da value of LIFE
Salaam.
This morning i jez had my bioethic class wif Mdm.Tatiana Ivanovna…this is the 3rd class. In the first two class we discussed bout doctors–why u chose dis profession, wut quality shud doc have, etc…and honestly i made me realize that i’m not determined enough to say my reason of becoming a doc. "people trust docs.people look up to docs.people take seriously evry single lil words dat come from a doc.that’s y i wanna be a doc.i wanna make this my method of dakwah." huhu…wished i could say that firmly….. dunno why…guess i’m still not a doc at heart…nor a da’ie at heart…iskkkk
(ko nih nor..bilelaaa nk maju..)
"Docs shud be kind-hearted, helpful, empathy, sympathy, compassionate, optimistic,
confident. Normal people usually deal with normal people but docs deal with not-so-healthy people n their family. People dat have n need hopes. People dat have expectation dat they expect doc tu be the asbab to fulfill it accordingly. So, even a lil words from doc, the one they put their trust on, will bring about a great turning point to them. Docs cure sometimes, relief often, comfort always. Plg penting do it lillahitaala. Medic can be a medium utk sebarkan syiar tau. Prove dat we muslim also can succeed in this field. Lgpun nnt xkan kat hospital nk biar non-muslim je.Nnt sape nk bg hope n amalan2 yg islamic kt patient. Let be a doc at heart…it’s better move slow than standing still..Just find your way…."
p/s:to my sahabat naim, thanx coz u lifted up my spirit. (^_^)
back to bioethicss..this morning we discussed about "LIFE AS A VALUE"…and as usual at the end of the session we were asked bout our opinion…may it originally frm us or from our religous point of view… at the beginning of the class, i pointed out dat in islam, there 2 parts of life–life on earth and life hereafter…and the life on earth is the preparatory period for the next life..then Mdm.Tatiana asked "if dat so, then the value of life on earth is reduced rite?"
"Yes.we believe dat the next world is our final destination.it is our highest aim to succeed there.we were born in this world to serve God, do good things and leave bad things.and finally on the day of judgement, every single thing we did in this world will be evaluated.those with good result will end in heaven.and those who fail will go to hell."
"But it doesnt mean life on earth is meaningless. We are strongly encouraged to work hard in our life. But again, life is nothing but a preparatory period. That’s wut special bout Islam. It’s owaz in the middle of two extremes."
then, the next question, "then wut do you think about immortality?"
"we believe dat our body is not immortal.but our soul indeed is immortal.the soul will go to the next world and pay for evrything he did in life. And the next world itself is immortal. That’s y i said–the value of the next life is higher."
And one of our classmates(a buddhist) talk bout buddhism. She says dat they believe in reincarnation. Our lecturer said, "Then, does each life connected to each other?" she said that there is no connection between the previous life to the next because during the interval between the 2 lives, they’ll have to drink a soup. This soup will make them forget everything in the prevous life.
Then my fren Gmex asked the girl, "may i know,..if there’s no connection between each lives, then wut is the purpose of living?wut is the purpose of ur existence?"
then she answered dat each lives is ‘actually connected’. The result of previous life will be the cause for the next life. Means, if u r a good human in this life, then u might be a human in the next life. And if u r bad in this life, then u might be turned to pig or dog in the next life. Pretty interesting..but imagining dat i’m turning to a pig..whoaa..thank God i’m a muslim!
Then the lecturer jez laughed n asked, "then wut is the value of life if u bcome a pig???"
And she said,.."Jez be the pig and let yourself be eaten by people."….isk3…ngeri3….
hmm…teringat plak dlm Islam,..manusia adalah makhluk Allah yg plg tinggi tarafnya. Makhluk yg diciptakn utk mjadi khalifah di muka bumi. Dan Khalifah tdk akan sekali2 bertukar manjadi binatang. Once a human, u r owaz a human. Yang membezakan taraf antara manusia itu hanyalah takwanya.Alhamdulillah,..syukur aku dberikan penghormatan utk mjadi manusia..huhu~
And then we were asked bout death. Is it a value? Is it dreadful and why? And now each religion shud give their opinion bout the issues.
A christian answered dat they value life. And he said dat "we were told that when our life ends, we’ll go to good place. But i dunno where the good place is." hmm..
Then Mdm.Tatiana, also a christian, said that they also believe in heaven n hell. And they were told to remember death, but it’s not necessary to be afraid of dying. And I like the quote, "Memento Mori"–which means: owaz remember death.
Then, my turn, "Death is inevitable. We believe that whether death is horrible or not, it depends on the individual himself. Whether he died in honour, or in humiliation, it all depends on wut he had done in his life. Anyhow, we were taught to fear death. We Muslims dont believe in reincarnation. We believe that the next world is our last destination, where we’ll be judged. And Death is the entrance gate to the next world. So by fearing death, it make us to be prepared for the worst and it’ll stimulate us to increase our good deeds n avoid doing sins. All this things, Heaven n Hell, Life n Death, and all other things we’ve discussed have been written clearly in the Al-Quran, the last testiment. If we follow all the guidance from Allah that was given through Al-Quran, we’ll succeed in this world and hereafter. And that is the highest value of life–when we fulfill the purpose of our existence."
My otha fren Mawaddah also added, "You see, when we talk about scientific and religious point of view bout life, actually Islam is on the same line with scientific theory. I’ll give you the simplest example. Jez now at the beginning of the class, sumbody define LIFE scientifically by saying dat life is produced when ovum is fertilized by sperm. This thing,..from the fertilization stage, embryogenesis, etc..it all has been written down in Al-Quran." Hu~…Subhanallah…
I respect evry religion. I didnt mean to offense anyone, but at the end of the class, i cant help myself from thinking HOW GRATEFUL I AM TO BE A MUSLIM…… (^_^)v ^hikari^
